This course introduces participants to a typical Education Management Information System (EMIS). It uses the Pacific EMIS has the main tool for learning. Participants will learn the differences between school level Student Information System (SIS) and higher level EMIS. Participants will also learn the core aspects of the Pacific EMIS and how to make use of them to improve the education system as a whole.

This course is designed to teach participants about important school annual (or bi-annual) census. The tool used for this course is the "annual census workbook" developed in Microsoft Excel and designed to be uploaded directly into the Pacific EMIS. The participants will learn how to correctly use the tool to submit high quality data. This is a minimum required data collection by all schools to produce key education indicators.

This course is designed to train participants on how to effectively use a student information system (SIS) to better manage their schools. The software used is OpenSIS. The course is geared towards school principals, teachers, data entry clerk and IT staff.
